(D3 MM Event) The Best Defense

[Rose Sorenn]

"Sweet," she handed the datapad over. That hand freed up, Rose set about examining the attachment unit more closely, "let's see if I can not break this one."

[Riza]

Setting up the datapad over on a crate somewhere, Riza began the slow process of allowing the translator to input the feed from it's visual sensor and make sense of the text so that it displayed, in Cheunh, once she had it configured right, on the display.

A slow, sorta bulky process, but one that would eventually accomplish the task.

[Coryn Kusat]

Coryn just laughed at the exasperation, he didn't give a shit about loading the bandits up himself. "Funny story, I learned the Jawa trade language from a Jawa mercenary when I was 9." He cleared his throat. "Utinni utinni, ohohoh ooh ooh oh. That means: Get over it and quit your whinging, we've got a profit to make! It's a surprisingly common saying."

Eventually they would get the datapad translated, it seemed like it had once belonged to a jawa of some influence and it held a fairly comprehensive list of the cargo of their sand crawler. The group might notice some of the pieces, the lighter ones for the most part among the bandits loot.

They'd also find a note about the jaws negotiating for protection from some Mandolorian's that had made a stop in Mos Eisley. It seemed they had taken the job, but had their own ideas of how it should be done.

Rose rolled her eyes at Coryn’s unsubtle dig, too bad her expression was hidden by her helmet.

[Riza]

"Well, now we know what that Jawa has been hiding. Influential little fellow he is," she said, cutting into the chatter. "Seems they managed to hit that crawler, or whatever, when we were setting up to take them down. Maybe they hit them before," she shrugged, "I don't know."

"Don't really matter, bandits dead, day saved," she tossed the datapad down onto a container gently enough.

Coryn was fascinated by the translator as it was able to clarify a few issues he'd had with some of the more complex linguistic tricks of the language. Then again, it got a few bits wrong, although that was mainly to do with emphasis. Some of it was probably down to dialect but it was still useful to know.

"Good find Riza. Yep, good to know. Might be something Alister can use in there, they've got all sorts of good stuff."

[Evencious]

That was quite possible, either way the job as far as they were concerned was done. Chances are there was more they could chat about though. There was the fate of the bandits to consider after all.

Coryn took a look through the assorted stuff and saw something he could actually use. With a shrug he clipped it onto his harness until there was time to work on it.

"If and when we're done here I'll take these two to our employers."

(OOC: Taking the donation to Alister option, I'll figure out what attachment I found when I get a chance.)

Day 3. Desert Raid. Discipline check.: 2eP 0 successes, 4 advantage

Once everything had been assessed and loaded and the group were en route, Rose noticed one of the raiders was coming around. Covering the top of her canteen, she briefly upended it, just enough to wet her fingers without spilling the water. She flicked the water droplets in the thug’s face.

[Evencious]

The man stirred mumbling a but under his breath and attempting to reach a hand up to wipe away the water. The inability to do so caused him to cone to full attention and soon he was testing the strength of his bindings.

"Fuck." He grumbled after a moment.

"Welcome back," Rose smirked at the man, "sorry about the headache, not my idea."

[Evencious]

He regarded the woman for a moment. "If it weren't yet idea, well thanks." His jaw worked for a moment. "Could I maybe get a drink of water, my mouth is drier this this desert."

Her canteen still uncapped, Rose held it out for him to drink from. She wasn't about to untie him for some water, but the spout was small enough that - short of the speeder crashing - he shouldn't get water all over him, even if she tipped it up too far.

He took a drink and offered rose a polite nod. "Thanks." He grumbled after he swallowed, he didn't seem like he was gonna struggle.

The redhead took her helmet off so she could take a drink for herself before capping the canteen again. "Now the bad news is that we're going to turn you over to the Jawas you've been stealing from. The good news is my friends here," she hitched a thumb in the direction of Coryn and Riza, "now they speak Jawa-talk, and they might just have some things to say about what our client does with you."

Rose smiled, then a look of mocking concern came over her, "and we want them to only say good things, don't we?" she crooned condescendingly. "Of course, if you had, say, something information that might help us..?" trailing off, she left it to the raider to draw his own conclusions.

"I ain't saying shit if you turn me over to the jawas." He replied firmly. "They eat people you know, and it don't matter what you say to them that's what will end up happening to me."

Rose looked thoughtful for a moment. “Change my mind,” she suggested, “if your info is good enough, we drop you and your friend off before we get to where we’re going.”

She wasn’t making a unilateral decision, but the thug didn’t need to know that. So long as he thought she had the authority to make the offer, that’s the only thing that mattered.

Coryn was perfectly happy for Rose to do her thing. As she spoke with the bandit he got the speeders ready.

Rose looked thoughtful for a moment. “Change my mind,” she suggested, “if your info is good enough, we drop you and your friend off before we get to where we’re going.”

She wasn’t making a unilateral decision, but the thug didn’t need to know that. So long as he thought she had the authority to make the offer, that’s the only thing that mattered.

"Dropping us off in the middle of the desert down sound much better. You leave us a com and a couple canteens of water and I figure we can work out a deal though."

He cleared his throat and spit into the sand. "Though I'll need assurances a pretty girl like you is the one that makes the decisions here too "
