(D4 EE) Weight of Command - Phoebe

[Treya Laerrin]

Phoebe had been called to the bridge for review. Unless she sought to disappoint Mama Laerrin, she would have made it.

"The youngest of the recruits. Would you have it differently?" The question was open ended, waiting for her interpretation.

[Phoebe Wren]

She'd never refuse a call from another Mandalorian. Especially not one as Mama Laerrin... not that she had seen her wrath, but Phoebe expected it would be a terrible thing to behold.

"To not be the youngest?" it seemed an odd question to her. "I don't see how age should really factor in. I've been through as much as most of the others."

[Nekoinu]

"It is not your experience that I am calling to mind," Treya answered. She gave a casual shrug. "Even this question is part of being the youngest. It makes you different, see?"

[Phoebe Wren]

Riza had also said she was different. Tightening her mouth for a moment, she breathed in deeply. "I don't like to think of it that way, but sure, I'm different."

[Treya Laerrin]

"So it makes you uncomfortable, eh?" Treya remarked. She pulled over the roster of recruits, both recruited, potential, and even rejected. "And yet, here you are. Wren, or perhaps not so anymore.

"My point is-"

A jolt across the entire Aurora interrupted her words. Her gaze immediately shifted to the ship's diagnostics. A few more rumbles through the ship caused a dip in her efficient appraisal of the situation.

"We're still on the correct hyperspace route," she stated, "Someone set up a sabotage trap though. The hyperdrives systems are jammed up, and that's not all."

The clan matriarch picked up the spare tool kit and went to the panel. "They're boarding us," she said, "Unless you think you know this ship better than me, I'm depending on you to cover me."

It didn't make her uncomfortable as such. It was more how everyone else was making something out of it, Phoebe felt.

The jolt interrupted her train of thought, and she looked to Treya as the woman was checking the ship's diagnostics, with her hands quickly taking a check of her weapons. Damnit, why didn't she have her sword or armor now.

"Kriff," she gritted her teeth together. "Right. You know it better than me." No objections there.

[Nekoinu]

"Tricky, tricky. They even shut down countermeasures." Treya put down her datapad and continued to go about the ship. The droid crew fed her information from their stations. "They had let use leave too easily from Tatooine."

Down one of the corridors, there was a distinctive crack followed by the storming of feet. "Alright, let's keep going," a voice said. The clattering of steps started coming closer.

A bunny was perceptive and quick on her feet. " Ma'm. Incoming," her head turned in the direction of the approaching sounds, as she stood ready to shield the matriarch.

"Let me know if you need the help," Treya said before sticking a screwdriver in her mouth. Any bit of distraction would make it harder for her.

Four thugs, tracking sand all from Tatooine, stepped up to the corridor. "Kriff, blast them!" one announced.

With the goo-gun already in hand as they showed up, Phoebe decided to splash them with the burning adhesive. It did spread nicely on the group, but not enough to make it stick.

Not giving them a chance to catch their breaths and get a clear shot at Treya, the small Mandalorian charged right into a group. "You picked the wrong ship to board," she sneered, clenching her free hand into a fist, ready to lash out.

One of the thugs groaned from the goo, not quite out for the count. The group as a whole didn't bother running away from her, instead standing their ground and shooting at her.

The blasters stung, and with a practiced motion she injected herself with a stim to keep her going before drawing the Kal dagger recently given to her.

With goo-gun in one hand, and dagger in the other, the small warrior continued to last out at her opponents, but found no purchase. Yet. She was sure she was keeping the pressure on them at least, and focused on her instead of Treya.

It hurt, but for now she used that pain to fuel her rage. Phoebe put her acrobatic frame to use, kicking herself off the wall to lunge upwards at the group. The deady leap embedded the dagger deep into the throat of one of them, and she used the man's frame as a spring-board leap at the next opponent, the knife slashing through the air.

The slashes sent down another one of them. "What the?" one of the two remaining ones blabbered. He smacked his friend and they both turned tail.

She hissed through gritted teeth, stepping into the hallway after them as she took aim with the goo-gun. Another splurt of strong adhesive hit them, but their movement was enough to keep them from getting glued to the floor.

The men continued to run away, one particularly goo-ed up in a non-lewd fashion.

"Come back to your post!" Treya barked, still readjusting the wires in the side panel.

Kriff! She mentally kicked herself that she hadn't been good enough to take them out, and giving pursuit would leave Treya alone.

"Hope they're not bringing backup," she stepped back inside where the two fallen boarders were still on the floor. The shots from the blasters hurt a bit more now, but her adrenaline was still pumping high enough to make her not care right now.

"They should have brought more to the bridge to begin with," Treya noted. She snapped her final wire into place and closed the hatch. "The hyperdrive is now charging and I could get communications up and running. Nearby Mandalorian vessels could help.

"On the other hand, that'd demand that I stay here at the bridge." She raised a brow at Phoebe. "What would you suggest, eh?"

[Phoebe Wren]

Brow furrowed in thought, Phoebe wiped some sweat away from it with the back of her hand. "Hard call to make, when we still don't know what we're dealing with and the number of boarders. They might not be that many if they sent only a four-man squad to take the bridge."

With her lips pressed together, she let the breath out through her nose.

"For now we should hold the bridge, try to coordinate our own people. And," she hunched down by one of the fallen boarders, "if these guys have comms on them, we might get the upper hand by listening in on their line."
