(D3 LM) Chasing Shadows

[Kairi Laerrin]

Kairi carried the man herself to the cargo hold. She wasn't the sort to accept help on the matter after having her pride wounded by getting shot. When she got to a suitable clear spot, she dropped him onto the metal floor and looked back to the two of them.

"Shame we don't have two of them," she said, "Makes questioning easier."

[Axel Ward]

Axel grunted agreement. "Yeah. It's easier when you can kill one to make a point."

He turned to the other two. "One of you wanna start it? Or you want me to do the talking." Always frowning, there was a bit of a strange tension in Axel's body, and visible in his dark eyes.

[Kairi Laerrin]

"I was more thinking of threatening physical harm to the other," Kairi replied. She patted her spare dagger. "If I say I'm going to cut your throat unless you talk, you'll probably stay silent. But if that knife was held to Damien's, maybe you'd be persuaded."

[Axel Ward]

Axel shrugged. "Yeah, that works too. But it's nice to have a spare."

Well, whoever wanted to start, they needed the prisoner to be awake. Axel reached out, giving him a shake. "Hey. You. Wake up." He said roughly.

[Nekoinu]

The man startled awake and reached for the knife under his sleeve. Of course, the Mandalorians had known about that, and he looked at the people around him.

"Seriously? You killed everyone?"

[Axel Ward]

"Not yet." Axel said laconically. He smirked, letting Phoebe take it from there.

[Phoebe Wren]

"So, good cop, bad cop, then?" she mused, her helmet off as she regarded their prisoner. He was hardly a threat, restrained as he was, and how Axel had dropped him like a sack of potatoes easily.

As the guy stirred, she was idly chewing on some bubblegum and popping a bubble.

"Not yet, indeed!" she added almost cheerfully after the bubble burst. "Congratulations, you're still alive, and may yet still continue to do so, given your full cooperation. Please do not resist."

[Nekoinu]

The man reached over to a panic button on his belt, squirming as he were. "Kriff," he wailed, "What can I even cooperate with? I don't have that slave anymore!"

[Phoebe Wren]

"Too bad," she patted the man on the head.

"So tell me, what did you want with him? Why go through all this trouble for one guy?"

[Nekoinu]

"It was supposed to be a win-win situation. We wanted to collect your bounties and if you didn't show, we'd have a slave you owed us."

[Phoebe Wren]

Her eyes narrowed slightly. Bounties? But some pieces of the puzzle was falling into place.

"Ah, I think I understand... remind me again, of who you work for?"

[Nekoinu]

"Kelvor. You betrayed him by not delivering the slaves after the job." He shook his head. "Sure, he wants revenge, but most of you have something on you."

[Phoebe Wren]

She frowned, and popped another bubble. "Figured as much." And she gave a look to the others. There wasn't really a big mystery to the scenario.

"What should we do with him?"

[Axel Ward]

"You know anything about The Hangman?" Axel put in.

[Nekoinu]

"The Hangman? Are you going to have him take me? Kriff, I told you everything!" He writhed in his restraints. "Somebody has to be sane on this ship! Help me!"

[Phoebe Wren]

Phoebe snorted. "Oh please, I'm plenty sensible enough for everyone here. Do we really look like the sort to be in league with the Hangman?"

[Nekoinu]

"You killed all my friends and are Mandalorians. Damn, I wasn't sure if the Hutts wanted to make an example of Kelvor too."

[Axel Ward]

Axel made a disgusted noise deep in his throat.

"Look, scumbag. This is your last chance to tell us somethin' good. Now, if I were you, I'd think real hard, and see if maybe you wanna give us a good lead on how to find The Hangman." He shrugged. "Or maybe you're not worth a thing to us."

[Nekoinu]

The captive wormed over towards Phoebe. "Please," he said, "You can't - Kriff. The boss man, he's trying to carve out things here because he assumed the bigger organizations would be busy in the Core Worlds with the Empire in disarray.

"We made our move because we heard the Hangman left. Figured we'd make our cut now."

[Axel Ward]

"Damnit." Axel growled. For a few moments, he paced around, radiating murderous tension.

He turned back to their prisoner. "You know where he went?"
