SpessWebMD with Dr. Bunny
Shoot away, I think I was mostly an open book!
Re: SpessWebMD with Dr. Bunny
Hey, smolMando! I liked Phoebe. Her hot temper seemed like a departure from your usual. Seems like you had a good time with it, yeah?
Are there more elements to Phoebe that you'd like to explore?
Did she turn out how you expected? Any times where she or her development surprised you?

I think Phoebe grew into herself like a typical young adult story! How do you feel about her getting closer and closer to the Light Side Paragon route?

Were you happy you went with the force user concept in the end? I enjoyed taking a break from force powers but I thought Phoebe was a great example of an interesting non-Jedi force user. You kept the powers nicely low key (I can't remember if she actually used any outside of class abilities).

Yeah it was a bit of a change of pace for me, as I usually don't go for overly aggressive PCs or particularly angry ones. Or if they are angry, their anger is always much more low key! That personality streak came about when I was looking at Emotional Strength/Weakness, and I was sticking to the ones suggested as pairings... Bravery seemed like a very fitting Strength for a Mandalorian and then I looked at Anger as its opposite, and figured that could be fun. And then looking at the backstory I had in mind, it seemed like an interesting concept to have this small person with a huge chip on her shoulder!
I think I got to explore most of her elements. I wish I could've gotten to explore a bit more of the softer side of her (romance), but it didn't come online until near the end of the game since I had stepped away from Xavien as a player for a while, but since no one else ended up actually going for him I figured why not. xD
Phoebe turned out more or less as I expected. I liked that she was smart, but not book-smart like other characters I've played (like Lyseil), and was often impulsive and impetuous, so she could provide me with a lot of range to explore personality-wise. It's been a while since I played someone so impulsive as her, who just said mostly what was on her mind instead of masking it in pretty or political words.
What surprised me about her development was that she took to heart some understanding of the Force, but she still kept true to a Mandalorian mindset despite learning about that. She didn't end up getting preachy or goody-goody because of that development, but kind of just reinforced her own beliefs more. I wasn't sure how it was going to go, since I hadn't prepared myself for any Force stuff at all.

Phoebe Wren - Mandalorian, now in hardcover and paperback where all fine books are sold. Perfect for YA readers.
Honestly, I'm not too surprised that she's leaning more Light side than Dark. First of it is that Phoebe is what I'd call a very honorable person. Is she a good jedi? No, and we all know she has temper issues, but overall she would rather do what is right than to not do anything at all! The second is that mechanically, unless you *want* to change lanes, so to speak, it's very easy to advance towards Paragon, imo, because the system seems to be designed that way with how Conflict isn't something that happens every time you have a "bad thought" (as the book itself encourages a very loose policing of Conflict because they wanted to avoid the Thought Police).
I'm very happy I got to explore Force-stuff though, since I never expected it to happen.

Very! Peacekeeper felt much more natural to Phoebe when backstory was coming more into place, especially personality. The original Charmer/Medic build would not have been as prickly as this version though, as they would've actually had to be charming. xD And then I felt I would've run the risk of maybe getting into too much "same-y" territory for her personality and playstyle.
I decided I wouldn't take any Force Powers during creation or play. Firstly because I also wanted a break from the Force Powers. Secondly because I didn't feel justified in giving her any talent with that since she had been focused on honing herself to be a medic and a fighter - she believed in skill and not talent, so to speak, and she never had anyone to train her in that line of thinking. Thirdly because being Force Sensitive wasn't a matter of Phoebe's identity, as it has been for say Shaisha in Dapper Wars - even when learning about her Force Sensitivity, she still don't really consider it to be a part of her identity.
So she got Enhanced Leader for Session 2, which worked well that Nekoinu gave Phoebe an interlude-vision. In a way, like an awakening of her Force Powers.
End of game though, she has picked up some Force Powers (still the less flashy ones), as I think she'll try to learn and understand more of what she might do. Time to go practice mind tricks on Axel.

You're gonna see this question in a few places, but I think it's the one I like the most.
Any thread ideas you have over the course of the game that you thought might be cool but otherwise never pulled the trigger on? For whatever reason. What was it like? What did you hope it would explore? Why'd you decide not to go through with it? Feel free to answer any of these or more! Or less!
