Training Day (Pregame MM, OPEN)

[Axel Ward]

'Well-used' could describe much of Axel, but it seemed especially to apply to his fist. Little callouses and scars told a story, one that was probably unpleasant for a number of other people. He was silent and still as she studied it.

"Decent." He grunted, rubbing his wrist. "Good enough to not blow off my own foot anyway." He chuckled. "And I can do a few things that need a delicate touch. Just takes a lot of practice." Axel shrugged.

[Rose Sorenn]

Rose smirked, raising an eyebrow, "always good to see someone who can manage delicate work, when it's needed. Not that a little rough handling is always a bad thing."

[Axel Ward]

"Yeah, well." Axel frowned down at his hand, his eyes dark. Slowly, he closed it into a fist, knuckles cracking faintly. "There's some kinds of work I'm a lot better at than others."

After a few moments of silent reflection, or perhaps just silence, he looked back to Rose suddenly. "You into Huttball at all, Sorenn?"

[Rose Sorenn]

Rose wasn't bubbly by any measure, but her demeanour was certainly more lighthearted than Axel's, studying him as he descended into silence. Passing judgement that he looked like the baggage type, she was about to turn away in boredom when he spoke again. "Saw a lot of it on Nar Shaddaa, never played, though."

[Axel Ward]

"Yeah? And?" Axel smiled, just a little. "You like it? Guess you must've, if you saw a lot of it." He shrugged. "My bunkmate's a fan. Figured we'd watch a match from time to time. Thought I'd see if anyone else was, too."

The smile slowly turned into a thoughtful frown. "You from Nar Shaddaa? Or you just do work there?"

[Rose Sorenn]

“I won’t say I love it,” she smiled easily, “I don’t have a favourite team, but yeah, I like it.” Rose’s hands were in almost constant motion as she spoke, restless as birds, “lived in Nar Shaddaa for long than I cared for, but finding a new base of operations never seemed worthwhile. What about you? where do you hail from?”

[Riza]

Given plenty of time for her exercise, Riza saw herself to some water and a wipe down before heading over toward the pair, giving plenty of time for them to finish the current part of their conversation surely.

When she did approach, of course, she looked to the man expectantly.

[Axel Ward]

"Ord Mantell." Axel said shortly, his eyes briefly tracing the movement of Rose's hands. "But I last was on Takodana. It's quiet there."

Seeing the Chiss approach, Axel's eyes narrowed. But he held out his hand to shake, just as he'd did with Rose. "Axel Ward." He said, voice firm.

[Rose Sorenn]

Rose’s attention shifted to the chiss, her gaze following Axel’s extended hand and jumping to the striking woman. Her own hands had now come to rest lightly on the grips of her blasters.

[Riza]

Following the gesture Riza looked to Axel's hand, flit her eyes toward Rose, and then finally settled on Axel himself as she took his hand. A towel, sweat covered, in her off hand as she shook with her dominant.

"Riza," she returned.

[Axel Ward]

Axel grunted approval. "Riza. Pleasure to meet you." His shake was quite firm, making sure to match her, at least.

When they'd shaken, he stepped back to give Riza an Rose a chance to shake, too.

[Riza]

"Is it?" she arched a brow, mid shake. Releasing his hand with the natural flow of the gesture.

[Rose Sorenn]

“Rose Sorenn,” she offered a hand as well, as was the custom. Smirking again, “he should be pleased, to be in such quality company.”

[Riza]

Accepting the offered hand Riza gave the other woman a nod, "Too pleased, I think. So much so that I wonder if he has forgotten the purpose of this room, or simply makes every room into a place for idle conversation."

[Rose Sorenn]

Rose laughed at that, “looks like I’m guilty of that as well. I was planning on doing some climbing, but have apparently found myself distracted.”

[Axel Ward]

Scowling, Axel crossed his arms. "Which is more important, not starting your workout five minutes later, or meeting your shipmates for the first time?"

A moment, and he shrugged, his scowl relaxing. "It's good to know the people who might be watching your backs is all." He said.

[Riza]

"Perhaps some of us have had the luxury of living life with such ease, but others maintain a routine for a reason," she replied, words short and without much flare to them.

"We'll have plenty of time on this ship for idle conversation. Of that much I am certain."

[Axel Ward]

Axel's scowl deepened noticeably. But then, after a few moments, he snorted. "Sure, okay, that really is how you wanna play it, huh?"

He shrugged. "You're right about the idle conversation, though. Lots of time to get to know each other. Get on each others' nerves. Make friends. Both."

[Rose Sorenn]

"This might be one of those times, things could get busy once we reach Tatooine," Rose pointed out, "but it might not be the place. After all, we each came to use the room for a reason." Her amused expression didn't waver; rather, she seemed quite entertained by Axel's glower.

[Axel Ward]

Axel shrugged. "If you say so."

He looked back and forth between the two of them. "Well, we met. We gonna get back to it, then?"
