[D0 LA] Strip and Clean OPEN

[Rose Sorenn]

Having sated her curiosity examining the Basalisk war droid, Rose was cleaning her paired blasters at one of the workbenches, stripping the attachments and checking that everything was in perfect condition. They were, of course, she'd been through the exact same process yesterday, but it was somewhat meditative for her. There was a tool kit and a datapad on the bench in front of her as well.

[Orella Laerrin]

A young woman, perhaps the youngest aboard the Aurora, rounded the corner with datapad in hand. She finished up typing her inventory log and then smiled meekly at the initiate cleaning at the workbench.

"We have quite a bit to pick up at our next stop," the brunette remarked. She then lowered her electronic device and extended a hand. "I don't believe we've formally met. I'm Orella Laerrin. Not sure if you would have heard about me."

After an awkward laugh, she raised her datapad back up.

"Unless I'm mistaken, I read your dossier. Nar Shaddaa?"

[Rose Sorenn]

Rose smiled at the younger woman, “Orella, right, the little sister? your name’s been mentioned.” Beginning to reassemble one of the blasters, “yup, that’s me. Always happy to be off that planet,” she added.

[Orella Laerrin]

"That's one way to describe me," Orella replied with a small smile, "I have a lot to live up to. But I imagine I'm not the only one that feels that way. We didn't bring in anyone who asked.

"I haven't been to Nar Shaddaa but I've heard stories. Kind of place my brother would prefer rather than me."

[Rose Sorenn]

Rose carelessly shrugged one shoulder. Her slender fingers cleverly slotted and clicked the twin blasters back together without her really needing to look. Instead, she studied the Orella, “it’s no vacation spot, that’s for sure. Manaan, now that’s a place to spend time on.”

[Orella Laerrin]

Orella raised an eyebrow and averted her gaze first. She focused on her datapad, finishing up the tallies of what supplies they had remaining in the engineering bay and their condition.

"I've heard it said that home is where the heart is," Orella mused. She pointed at the blasters and smiled faintly. "Seems to me that home is where those go.

"Manaan though. I've always wanted to see it. I've never even met a selkath yet."

[Rose Sorenn]

Rose chuckled warmly, "something like that. I always felt that home was wherever you felt safe enough to sleep." The blasters reassembled, she lay them on the bench, each had been etched with the bleeding rose icon and the name of the weapon: Kiss and Bang.

"The ray-faces? They're good types, a little on the weak side."

[Orella Laerrin]

"I hope that can be here then, for you and everyone," Orella concluded with a warm smile. She lowered her datapad and tapped her chin. "Say, have you found anything lacking aboard the ship. I can't make any promises now but I do wish to be as accommodating as possible."

The youngest heiress shrugged.

"That's what I've heard from others, though their assessment may have been less kind."

Rose smiled for the cute young woman, "I feel safe enough here. As safe as anyone can be, really, can't afford to be complacent." She tipped her head to one side, "the selkath are helpful types, but they''re pacifistic to the point of their detriment. I don't want to suggest that I don't like them, but the Force helps those who help themselves, if you know what I mean."

[Orella Laerrin]

"Good. I'm not sure what you've heard so far, but I'm hoping we'll come together as a real family. Sometimes it can be more like a collective of mercenaries." Orella smiled faintly. "I understand the need for fighting capability but one must always ask why one draws the blade. Well, blaster is often more applicable, but blade is more poetic."

[Rose Sorenn]

Rose probably wasn’t deep enough to catch Orella’s drift, “usually because I’m being paid to,” she shrugged.

[Orella Laerrin]

"That's one road the clan could go down," Orella noted with hesitancy in her voice, "But there's more to life than money."

[Rose Sorenn]

For the first time, Orella had Rose’s full attention, seriousness descending over her countenance. “Well now, that’s an interesting idea.” The fingers of her right hand fluttered, for no visible reason, “I guess I never had enough money to have other reasons.”

[Orella Laerrin]

"I can't claim to have lived a life of poverty myself," Orella said. She dipped her head. "Conflict, surely, but never poverty."

[Rose Sorenn]

Rose gave one of her easy smiles, “it hasn’t been as bad as all that,” she said in a tone she hoped was reassuring. “I’ve never lived hand-to-mouth, I just haven’t taken a vacation, either.”

[Orella Laerrin]

"Oh," Orella mumbled and then raked a hand through her hair. She slid her datapad into her baggie and then smiled. "Well, then maybe we did have similar situations. Little in the way of vacations, unless you consider hunts to be that. Always felt like more work to me.

"My mother, though. She loves them." Her eyes went to the ceiling, as if she could pinpoint where Treya was in the higher decks.

Chuckling, “I can’t imagine what I’d do on vacation. Maybe one day I’ll try one of those adventure packages, go caving and mountain climbing, or something.” Tilting her head, “what about you? what’s your ideal getaway?”

[Orella Laerrin]

"You might have to do that anyways, depending on what my mother says," Orella replied with a small chuckle, "As for a getaway, Manaan is on my mind, admittedly, though I do really enjoy the thought of an ocean world. It would be so different than, well, Mandalore."

[Rose Sorenn]

Tapping her chin thoughtfully, “it’s been far too long since I was there last.” Rose came to a snap decision, “if you find yourself heading that way, you should drop me a line, I’m overdue for a trip home.”

[Orella Laerrin]

"I'm sure we'll see each other a lot," Orella said with a perked brow. She then tapped her chin. "Are you not planning on sticking around aboard the Aurora?"
