[D2 EE] Having a Blast

[Rose Sorenn]

The testing range was small, but it was better than nothing. The phrase itchy trigger finger had always seemed strange to Rose, to her it was more of a tingling sensation, like having a hot shower when your hands were near-frozen. With a smooth motion, she drew her twin blasters, sighting down the range and squeezing off a pair of shots.

She didn't go for flashy twirls and flourishes, focusing instead of efficiency of movement, dropping the blasters back into their holsters.

[Orella Laerrin]

"Must help a lot to catch people flat-footed," Orella noted as she walked up to the table. She placed her datapad down and synced it up with the armory's data. "Seems like we're still good when it comes to supplies."

[Rose Sorenn]

“It sure does,” Rose answered, “sometimes you can end things before they start.” She examined her datapad critically, looked at where she’d hit the target, two body shots. “Head shot,” once again, she drew the blasters and fired, this time she spent just a few seconds longer aiming. Her blasters were still back in their holsters in seconds, but this time her datapad showed a pair of clean shots through the silhouette’s face.

Sighing, she turned to Orella, “did the merchant thing shake out how you were hoping?”

[Orella Laerrin]

"How do you make the call that it would have started though?" Orella asked. She sighed and shook her head. "Maybe it's obvious to people with more field experience but I just haven't been in that sort of situation.

"Eh, the merchants were more difficult than I had anticipated. We did the best we could."

[Rose Sorenn]

“Depends on the target,” Rose answered. “Depends on the objective. Shooting the jetpack off a bounty’s back before they even know you’ve caught up with them, whipcording a target that’s broken and run, the faster you can end a fight, the less messy it gets.”

She nodded to Orella, if the young woman was satisfied, that would have to be enough, no matter how awkward the encounter had been. “Not exactly playing to our strengths. I have a bad feeling about the whole thing.”

[Orella Laerrin]

"It's not so cut and dry like I'd prefer it," Orella concluded. Her eyes looked over the inventory displayed on her datapad. "Numbers. Those have always been simple."

Orella sighed. "I know you didn't," she replied, "We talked about it. I just felt like we could do better than to stoop to the level of Mos Eisley thugs."

[Rose Sorenn]

"I don't think endorsing those merchants is going to paint us in the best light," Rose snorted and shook her head, "people are going to think the Mandalorians have gone weak." The redhead took a deep breath and stepped closer to Orella, "I'm sorry it didn't go better, I wanted you to be right."

[Orella Laerrin]

"So we should have broken their stuff." Orella shook her head and unholstered her pistol. She eyed it over and then aimed it down range. "I'm no pacifist. I just utilize force when necessary."

[Rose Sorenn]

"Now you're just messing with me," Rose chuckled. She moved up behind Orella and checked her form. Placing a hand on the young woman's hip, "centre your weight, feet shoulder width apart."

[Orella Laerrin]

"Messing with you?" Orella asked. She placed her pistol onto the table and tilted her head at the other woman. "I'm not a child. I'm serious about this, I'm committed to this, this being my principles." She took a deep breath and crossed her arms. "I don't know why I expected any of you to understand. I've your dossiers."

[Rose Sorenn]

Chastened, Rose dropped her eyes and took a pace back, "I'm sorry, Orella, I'm trying to understand." The redhead turned her face away and sighed.

[Orella Laerrin]

Orella shook her head. "It's okay, or rather, it's going to be okay. I know my ideas are a bit radical. It's not fair that I'm taking out my lost patience on you."

[Rose Sorenn]

Smiling wryly, "I'll get the hang of it, you'll see." Visibly cheering, "now, let's take another crack at that blaster, hey?"

[Orella Laerrin]

"Sure," Orella said, picking up her blaster and turning to the range. She took a breath and fired two shots down range. The first hit her target square in the chest but the other one went high.

[Rose Sorenn]

Nodding, Rose broke into a smile, "good." Using one finger, the redhead nudged the barrel level again, "blasters don't recoil anywhere near as much as slugthrowers, but they do still like to kick a little. Make sure you're dropping the barrel between shots."
